Hell: Samsung are recalling Galaxy Note 7
Unveiled on 2 August 2016, Samsung Galaxy Note 7was officially released on 19 August as a successor to the Galaxy Note 5. The Galaxy Note 7 is an evolution of the previous model, which features with 5.7 inches, 1440 x 2560 pixels’ screen. The Note 7 features the same 12-megapixel rear-facing camera as the S7, with a "Dual Pixel" image sensor and f/1.7 aperture lens. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 stylus supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity, and is water resistant.
But on 2 September 2016, Samsung voluntarily recalled the Galaxy Note 7 due to reports of exploding batteries. The recall will cost the company a huge amount, with analysis that the figure could be around $100 million.
It is a manufacturing problem. And as it reported, there are at least 35 cases of phones overheating from around the globe due to the abnormal touching of the anode and cathode. Samsung Galaxy Note 7's main battery supplier is Samsung SDI, which has supplied up to 70% of batteries used in the Galaxy Note 7. While the battery of the remaining Galaxy Note 7 that sold in China was supplied by ATL. ATL is also Apple's main supplier for iPhone batteries. According to Samsung’s statement, Galaxy Note 7 that sold in China don’t have battery problem.
On 10 September, Samsung issued a statement urging consumers to stop using and exchange their Note 7 devices. In US, people can replace Galaxy Note 7 with either a new Galaxy Note 7 or a Galaxy S7 Edge and replacement of any Note 7 accessories.
