What is DRM

DRM is the abbreviation of Digital Rights Management, it is a generic term that refers to access control technologies used by hardware manufacturers, publishers and copyright holders to limit usage of digital media or devices. Digital rights management has been used by content provider companies such as Sony and Wal-mart, and it's being used by Apple, Napster and Rhadsody. Napster and Rhadsody are selling DRM protected WMA songs that can be played on Windows Media Player or some portable players with license, however, most of the songs Apple supplies are DRM protected M4P songs and some are DRM protected M4B audio books.
