What is DRM

DRM is short for Digital Rights Managements. DRM is widely used for music, video and DVD. The biggest online music -- iTunes Store, is selling most songs in M4P formats with Apple's DRM version Fariplay. Other some big music stores, like Napster, Rhadsody, are selling DRM protected WMA. DRM is a generic term that refers to access control technologies used by hardware manufacturers, publishers and copyright holders to limit usage of digital media or devices. That is why Samsung Omnia can not play DRM protected M4P and DRM WMA. The music stores we mentioned are the most biggest music stores in the world, it's probably your purchased music are from these stores. If you need to play them on your Samsung Omnia, you need to remove DRM first.

How to remove DRM

When the DRM comes out, more and more people found that DRM is giving restrictions. And DRM removing methods are discussed here and there. Generally speaking, except for the illegal cracking, there are two normal and legal ways to remove DRM. The first one is burning and ripping. You can burn the M4P songs to an audio CD in iTunes or burn the DRM protected WMA to an audio CD with Windows Media Player. Then you can use audio CD ripper program to extract the tracks from the audio CD and save as MP3 or AAC. The second way is to use sound recording programs like Notecable, soundtaxi, etc. The sound recording program records the audio streams in background while the DRM protected files are being played. However, both of the ways cost too much time.

Noteburner comes out and introduce the third way to remove DRM and convert to MP3 perfectly. See how to remove DRM for Samsung Omnia below.
