How to Convert M4V to MP4 on Mac OS X

This is a tutorial about how to remove the DRM protection from itunes M4V files and convert M4V files to MP4, MOV, iPhone, iPod, with Noteburner M4V Converter Plus for Mac.

Step 1. Import M4V videos to Noteburner iTunes M4V Video Converter

Click the Add button on the top left corner (or on bottom) of the main interface to import the M4V video files you want to convert. The program will open the iTunes movies library by default. Select the files and then click OK.

Tips: The program allows you to import files from different iTunes library (Default is Moives).

Step 2. Adjust the video duration, choose video and audio track

After successfully importing the M4V resource files to the program, you can directly find the videos displayed on the main interface. You can adjust the duration, select video track and audio track according to your preference.

Step 3. Select output format

Click the button above the text "Convert to", then you can choose the output format from the profile menu. Noteburner M4V Converter Plus for Mac supports multiple formats well including MOV, MP4, iPod, iPhone formats as output.

Step 4. Adjust profile settings

Click the icon on the right side of the video tab, you are allowed to adjust the parameters of the video and audio settings. You can change the video codec, video size, video bitrate and other parameters by yourself.

You need to click the button "Convert"on the bottom of the main interface and you will come into a new converting window. You can set the output path for your converted videos and then freely click the "Start" button to start converting M4V videos.

Q1. How to register Noteburner M4V Converter Plus with registration code?

A: Install the trial version of Noteburner on your Mac. Then launch Noteburner, click the menu bar "Noteburner M4V Converter Plus> Registration...", there will be a registration popup dialog. You may input the User ID and Registration Key manually. The User ID is case sensitive. And, please do not add blank at the beginning or the end of the word. You can also copy and paste the User ID and Register Key into the registration popup dialog.

Q2. What can I do if the program shows Registration Code Invalid?

A: This may caused by downloading wrong program or special characters in registration name. So you should check if you have downloaded the incorrect program or there is any accent in your registration name. If so, please contact via support@noteburner.com, so that we will generate a new code for you.

Q3. Why does it show a black screen and audio only in iTunes when I launch Noteburner?

A: Do not worry about this problem. It is a normal situation when you are using NoteBurner M4V Converter Plus for Mac to convert DRM M4V movie in iTunes. This is because that the program requires iTunes open and play the movie in pause mode while converting the movie. And the video will disappear leaving only the audio track working in the pause mode.

Q4. Why does iTunes crash during the conversion?

A: There are many different situations that would cause iTunes to crash. The most common one is that you may installed a plug-in called TuneUp on your Mac. To fix this problem, please simply uninstall it before you using Noteburner.

But if you don't have such plug-in and don't touch iTunes during the conversion, but iTunes still crashes, please send iTunes crash report together with the log file of M4V Converter Plus to us via email.

Q5. How to find the log file of Noteburner M4V Converter Plus to send to Tech Support?

A: A log file is the diary of the conversion process which records the progress of each conversion.

You can find the log file of Noteburner M4V Converter Plus, named "movie_convert.log" with the following two methods:

1. Launch Noteburner and begin the conversion. If there is any error occurs during the process, users can click Noteburner menu bar File>Show log in Finder to get the "movie_convert.log".

2. If Noteburner crashes during the conversion and you can't find the log with the method above, you can simply go to the folder: /Users/username(your Mac account name)/Library/Application Support/Noteburner M4V Converter Plus/movie_convert.log and send it to us.

Q6. I always got Error when converting iTunes movies on Mac OS X 10.5.8. Why?

A: This problem might be caused by the OS version you are using. If you are using Mac 10.5.8, please simply download the previous version 2.5.2 of Noteburner M4V Converter Plus to see whether it works fine for you.

Q7. Everything has been set normally and I get the converted movie, but why do I get a grey screen when playing them?

A: This problem might be caused by your computer. Please make sure that your computer is not in sleep mode or screen saver mode while converting the iTunes videos. Otherwise, the converted videos may show a grey screen when you playing them.
